Give These 2 Super Tough Exercises A Try! Zuzka Is Coming Out With A New Series

Have any of you ever tried pause sets? They are a great way to add strength to some of your exercises - especially if you are working out from home and have gotten too strong for the weights you have. Or of course if you are at the gym too and just want another way to get stronger.

Try Pause Squats.
Get down into the bottom position of a squat, and hold for a count of 3. People usually don't usually do it quite correctly, so once you get into the bottom position say to yourself - "Hold , 1 and 2 and 3", THEN start to ascend. They are pretty tough. Remember to keep your chest up, knees pressing slightly open, and weight in your heels.

Also try Pause Push-ups.
These are super tough. You can do these on your knees as well - they can help you get stronger to do push-ups off the knees. Same concept - once you get into the bottom position, say to yourself - "Hold , 1 and 2 and 3", THEN start to push back up. Keep your gaze slightly forward - people - and more often women than men have a tendency to look towards their bellies. Keep your neck neutral, abs pulled in, and elbows are tucked in as well and NOT flaring out.

Did anyone see this on Zuzka's FB page:

I'm putting together new series for ZGYM that will help us with handstands and it's going to be based around intense upper body and abs strength training.

I am SUPER EXCITED about this. She has another free workout posted with this as well and it looks great. Though at the end of the video she did this weird little thing where she makes a kissing-like face and points to her abs. So, so cheezy - or atleast I thought it was.

Anyways, I bet when Summer Shred is over she starts this series. I hope she keeps up some lower body work too.

  1. She also picked the winner for the pick a workout, or something like that, and the winner was a girl asking her to do a workout using her monster kb, just like YOU wanted

  2. I would like to see her do one with a weighted vest. I am really enjoying the intensity of it. Yesterday, I did an old one of hers that was 15 min of 5 pull ups and 6 jumptucks to pistol. I used chair and negotiate down. I tried a pull up today and was able to do one on my own. Wow, did not think that would ever happen. I'm assuming that the vest is helping.
