The Best Instructions On How To Do A Proper Push-Up

There are dozens and dozens of videos and instructions out there on how to do push-ups. I happened to find this article and video extremely helpful.
I think is one of the better videos out there, and it really goes over how, and why to do push-ups a certain way, and it gives examples of what to do, as well as what not to do. It gives progressions as well, so if you're stuck at doing push-ups a certain way, it shows you how to get to the next level.

You might actually find the article and the videos quite eye-opening. You may find you've been doing push-ups wrong all along. Check it out and let me know what you think!

    1. I love GMB. I haven't tried any of their programs yet, but am always thinking of getting them. I can't decide which one I want! Though I am doing Bret's Get Strong, so these days I am considering their Elements. It is a more of a get back to basics, so it is probably a good complement and will help me fine tune everything. I don't want to do 2 strength programs together.

    2. The next program i get is probably the Floor 1. i asked, and they will give me a deal on upgrade of elements and floor one or vitamin. what do you do of theirs? i have not explored anymore than the programs.

    3. I have done both Integral Strength and Floor one. Both good programs. Integral Strength starts off a little slow, only because I wasn't used to really going back to basics and paying that much attention to form and control. Once I got further in the program, I understood why they structured it that way. My pullups were more solid, my shoulders were stronger and I felt way stronger in my hips/glutes, which was a weakness of mine when doing barbell squats.

    4. Thank you Laura Fancy for taking the time to reply. I just got week 2. i really hope to notcie a difference for a chin up. I guess i need to put my mentality on the fact that this is practice outside of my workouts instead of a workout itself. Did you do the program as is daily for 20 sec/3 rounds or did you incorporate differently? Floor one will be my next purchase

    5. I did the program exactly as they have it written down. It does increase in rounds, but the time remains the same. I was only cranking out a few reps each time, really going as slow and controlled as possible (except for the l-sit and broad jumps).
That being said, I it wasn't my only workout for the day, as I walk my dog 6km/day! I also incorporated stretching and compression work to help with l-sit.
Floor one is very much a skills based program. They start off with a strength phase for 4 weeks and move on to skills for the next few months. It may not feel like a traditional workout, but I do get a bit fatigued from practicing and using my brain so much.
